2016- Freedom Hearts Animal Rescue began in 2016, based in Gerrardstown, WV.
2018 - 2018 was a big year for Freedom Hearts! We officially became a 501(c)(3) and also became an official partner with PetSmart!
General Info
Freedom Hearts Animal Rescue (FHAR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal rescue. We are run entirely by volunteers, who foster our animals in their homes. We focus on unwanted and abandoned cats in our area, the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
You may notice that much of our theming has patriotic symbolism included. This is no accident! Freedom Hearts is a veteran-owned and operated cat rescue and we have numerous volunteers who are military spouses. As such, we take a lot of pride in being American.
